Chapter 2 : I Can Give You Anything
The guy looked at Randal with a bit of reluctance. Randal had picked him many times before, but recently he had been cold towards him. He obviously didn''t want to give up such a good patron, but after a glare from Robert, he obediently left.
Randal slept in the hotel for a night, then went back to his rented place to get a USB drive, made a phone call, and went out.
"Stewart, are you crazy? You know Randal has company secrets, why did you let him go?" Roger Allen angrily questioned.
"What else could I do? Couldn''t keep him." Stewart, looking listless, answered himself while drinking.
"Don''t you care about Radiance Group anymore? That''s your years of hard work, and you''re just going to give it up?" Roger snatched the wine glass from Stewart''s hand. He couldn''t stand seeing Stewart in such a despondent state.
"Let''s talk about it later." Those who wanted to stay are no longer here, what use are these external possessions now?
"It''s been five years, Stewart. You''ve watched Randal steal company information and give it to our competitors. To keep him, what else are you willing to do? Is he the only one you care about? Do we, the ones who truly care about you, mean nothing?" Roger grabbed Stewart by the collar and asked.
"I''m sorry." Stewart lowered his head. He knew he had many friends who still cared about him, but he had focused all his attention on Randal, neglecting them. Yet, they hadn''t left him. Stewart felt very guilty. "I will protect Radiance Group."
"Stewart, you still have me. I will always stand by your side." Roger said seriously, placing a hand on Stewart''s shoulder.
"Thank you." Stewart stood up with Roger''s help.
"Stop thinking about him." Roger had never approved of Stewart being with Randal. He could tell from the beginning that Randal didn''t like Stewart and had ulterior motives. "What is so great about him that makes you lose your pride again and again, and still smile and forgive him?"
"I want to be alone for a while." Stewart said. He was truly exhausted.
Roger left, and Stewart sat on the sofa in a daze, his mind filled with the entanglements of the past five years with Randal. To be precise, it was his one-sided entanglement. Whatever Randal wanted, he gave—reputation, benefits, status, his pride, and he even wished he could give his life, but it never earned a glance back from Randal.
Randal had arranged to meet Ross Wright, a lover he had been secretly seeing for a long time.
"Randal, why are you so late?" Ross asked worriedly. "Did you get the stuff?"
"I overslept. Here it is." Randal handed the USB drive to Ross. "Let''s leave this place."
"Wait a minute, Randal. Don''t you want to see Stewart''s downfall?" Ross was momentarily flustered, then coaxed.
"Why should I care about him? I just want to run away with you." Randal said, holding Ross''s hand.
"I know, but I still have some things to take care of. Wait for me, okay?" Ross explained with a different excuse. "Trust me, it will be over soon."
"Okay, I''ll wait for you."
Randal and Ross had been together for three years. Every time Randal sneaked out, it was mostly to see Ross, and he would always bring some information from Stewart''s company.
Ross took the information directly to Blaze Company to find Russell Scott, to figure out how to use it to bring down Radiance Group, while Randal returned to Crystal Valley.
Since Randal took the information, Stewart had been living at the company, working day and night. It seemed that only by doing so could he stop thinking about Randal and feel less pain.
"Stewart, if you need anything, just say the word." Roger said.
"Not for now."
Roger wanted to say more, but the words were stuck in his throat. They had even mortgaged shares and the villa they lived in, yet Stewart insisted on bearing it all alone. But when it came to Randal, he kept giving in.
"Alright." Roger said helplessly, not pushing further.
"What is going on? Why is Radiance Group still intact?" Russell angrily questioned Ross.
"I really don''t know, but I heard Stewart has mortgaged everything. Maybe..."
"Maybe what? This matter is over, it won''t affect Radiance Group anymore." Russell said. Although this had indeed dealt a significant blow to Radiance Group, the outcome was not favorable for them. "Do you think Stewart will let us off?"
"What should we do then?" Ross was also scared. Stewart was not someone to be trifled with, and they were no match for him. If they hadn''t thought they could completely crush Radiance Group this time, they wouldn''t have had the guts to declare war openly.
"Kidnap Randal. I don''t believe Stewart would really ignore him," Russell said, determined to go all out.
"That''s illegal. Are you crazy? What if someone dies?" Ross was frightened.
"Heh, stealing trade secrets is also illegal. Besides, Randal being alive is evidence. If Stewart doesn''t die, we''re all finished," Russell said resolutely. They had no other choice.
"But..." Ross was still hesitant. If they failed, it would be a disaster.
"There''s no time. Call Randal and ask him to meet," Russell didn''t give Ross a chance to hesitate and made the decision.
Ross followed Russell''s instructions and arranged for Randal to meet at a bar owned by Cosmos Group.
"What are you doing? Ross, what does this mean?" Randal didn''t expect to be tied up by several men in black as soon as he arrived, and then Ross and Russell walked in together.
"I had no choice," Ross looked helplessly at Russell.
"Randal, only you can make Stewart obediently come to his death," Russell lifted Randal''s chin, "What a pity, just a pretty face."
Russell used Randal''s phone to call Stewart.
"Hello, Stewart, Randal, your little lover is in my hands. If you don''t want him to die, come alone to the address I send you. I''ll give you an hour. If you''re late, I''ll kill him," Russell said and then hung up.
"He won''t come. We''ve already broken up," Randal said firmly.
"He will come. He loves you so much that he would willingly die for you," Russell said with a smile, "I have to say, Randal, you''re really heartless. Five years and you never had feelings for him."
Randal looked up and saw Ross, the man he always thought he loved deeply, now watching coldly.
During this time, Randal''s phone rang. It was Mrs. Peabody, but Russell didn''t answer. A text message came in.
[Mom]: Your dad and I will be back next week. Stewart''s phone is off. Tell him, and we''ll have a family dinner when we get back.
"Didn''t expect it, your mom seems to like Stewart quite a bit. The first person she tells about coming back isn''t even her own son," Russell laughed and placed the phone in front of Randal, "Looks like this family dinner is destined not to happen."
Randal''s mind went blank. He didn''t understand why his mother would tell Stewart first about coming back.
Half an hour later, Stewart arrived, alone.
"So fast? Looks like you really care about him," Russell said, glancing at his watch.
"Let him go. I''ll give you anything," Stewart said.
As soon as he got the message, he rushed over without hesitation. He admitted that even though Randal had hurt him deeply, he still couldn''t bear to let him get hurt.
